Ipd Anti-Sways - Regular Or Track Spec For 2000 C70 Coupe

I have looked all around and see the difference in the regular and track spec sway bar kits. However, I am not really sure what it means in the real world on a C70 coupe.

 

Stock, we all know how they handle. I know the regular kit will be like night and day as far as the feel goes, but what would the track spec do for me? I keep reading that it leans towards oversteer and that is not good a DD that does not autocross or anything like that.

 

I like a snappy response and am familiar with handling cars at speed and pushing them. Anyone have experience with these kits on the C70?

 

Price difference in pretty much nothing, so which one?


Can Anyone Help Me Pick A Muffler For A New Cat Back?

Hey guys!

 

So I am thinking pretty seriously about getting a full 2.5" cat back exhaust installed on my Volvo GLT SE and the only thing holding me back is a muffler. I just can't decide which one!

 

I am looking for something fairly quiet, I really don't need a head turning exhaust that you can hear from all the way around the block. I would like something that has a nice low sound and when you step on it, it puts out a nice sound. I included a link to a YouTube video below, a muffler that would give me a sound similar to this would be great! I know it says it's a Magnaflow but it doesn't say which one so that would be great if someone had an idea...

The only other question I have, is there any reason not to put in a new exhaust. Like is it going to lead to more repairs down the line, or is it solely for sound because I am only doing this because I read somewhere that the stock muffler is very restrictive on airflow and with the turbo and an already upgraded intake filter, I am doing this for a bit more horses.

Hey guys i will be receiving my snabb intake to put in my 99 c70 tomorrow.
 
Ive been searching all over for a good write up but cant seem to find one, I know their is a video that Snabb and FCP put out but any good write up with pics out there? for the c70
 
also I know i will have to modify the fit of the PTC in the new pipe, can this be done without a bench grinder?
 
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

i have a volvo 850 t5 with turbo back exhaust no centre box cat or restrictions, re map high lift cams think there N/A cams 16t, larger turbo in take pipe and recently a cone filter. the other day my mate was following and he said when i get on boost building speed then change gear flame comes out the exhaust. is this some thing to worry about?? just listed what the car had done as i thought these may cause it to do this? just after advice thanks

Subaru 19t TDO4 compressor housing ready for my 850 T-5 19t turbo upgrade, no CBV on it ...gone all together ... made inlet 2.5 inch out 2 inch ...and finally if needed , it will be easy to remove/ access  Wastegate and get to compressor vacuum line / hose as well... ;) not easy to do  , but give someone and idea...had to relocate a locking housing pin as well...did not put it on my 19t yet , just tested it on 16t for fitment so far.

Car Has P0234 Code, Drives Fine, No Cel, No Limp Home Mode

My car (06 s80 2.5t) currently has 82k miles with ard green tune. It pulls very strong and doesn't have any obvious drivability problems. The code also never triggers limp home mode. However, every time I cleared the code, it comes back after a few days of driving. I installed a mechanical boost gauge and the boost stays perfectly at 15psi and slowly drops to 12psi till redline. 3 weeks ago when I did the wastegate adjustment, there's no leak in the vacuum line connecting the actuator, and it was properly set. I also checked the TCV lines and there's no obvious crack and they were connected correctly. I am wondering under what conditions a p0234 code will be thrown but doesn't cause CEL or limp home mode. Should I start with replacing the TCV? Thx!

Boost Spike And Fade With Mbc S70T5M

Hi, I have a 1998 s70 t5m with stock 16t, obx turboback exhuast, 10 psi wga, mbc(ball and spring). stock ecu. I had boost leaks but im pretty sure i fixed them all.

i want to hold 14-15 psi to redline but the boost spikes to 18psi and then it drops to 15 almost instantly then slowly starts to fade to 13psi close to redline. 

I cant seem to figure out what it is. :(  i find it really weird that my car is both spiking and fading. :wacko:  any sort of help or advice would be much appreciated.

850 T5 Cone Air Filter Best Place To Put It For Most Efficiency

just wondering what people think is the best place to put the cone filter on a 850 t5 i was thinking either put it near the front grill where the standard cold air feed runs in, or route it down to near the bottom of the bumper. any suggestions?

Added Factory Amp To My 816 And Now My Radio Reception Stinks...

I just added the factory amp to the SC-816 in my 1998 S70 and my radio reception dropped dramatically.  Is there something I can do to fix this?  Is it possible that the amp is defective? 

 

On a similar note, is there a way to add the  diversity antenna to my car?  I seem to have the second input on the radio.  Thanks.

Tasca 850R Clutch On S70 T5M?

i've recently read a lot of reviews, stating that the 850r clutch on tasca($194) is the best option to go for a clutch for my car(98 s70 t5m, vin ends in 443,391, single mass flywheel). my question is, this isnt JUST the clutch disc is it? i would hope they wouldnt just sell the clutch disc without the pressure plate, thats like selling shoes without laces....i am aware however that it doesnt come with the throw out bearing, or the recommended release bearing....heres the link, thanks for the help.

Hi all,

 

this thread is mainly to document the re-re-build of my second 850 touring car.

Most parts from my former 850 R wagon go into JCViggens 850 T5-R sedan chassis.

The Cage has been welded in by Cardiff and now it's being put together

Here you can see both of them running side by side on the Nordschleife in late 2010.

Then my wagon broke down....but that's another story.

A friend of mine is rebuilding the car and will post the pics in this threads...
Help and good suggestions are welcome!

Xm Skyfi2 Might Be Lifetime Subscription, How To Tell?

I picked up an xm skyfi2/ delphi sa10101 for cheap from an old man the other day, he made it sounds like its been a while since he used it, and the original packing slip is in the box from 2009. When i plug it in, it works and I get the xm channels, so it must have a good subscription, right?

 

Is there anyway way to tell if it's lifetime activated? I dont want to call SiriusXM as I'm not sure the subscription is transferrable, and they might want to shut it off.

I've also heard about some nonsense where if it originally had a subscription to xm, and was left shut down during the sirius/xm merger and for a few months after, it will now work forever as it did not get some signal to terminate service that they sent out for a fixed period of time. Sounds like BS to me but maybe thats a possibility too?

so i am starting to wrap up my Stage 0 work, now i start to look on the outside of the car to see what i can do to her

 

i always wanted a black on black wagon, so i am going to be keeping the black steelies ( going to clean them up and re-spray them and gloss ) and get darker tints

 

but i do have a couple questions on some things i should do

 

 

the weather strip or trim ( im not sure what it is called ) is hard as a rock and it peeling off everywhere

im having quite a difficult time trying to find a R black bumper

Volvo C70 (2002) Sc-816 Radio Ipod Interface

Hi everyone,

As newcomer, let me introduce myself as being based in Portugal and proud owner of a V70 T5 (2001) and a recently acquired C70 Convertible (2002). Also as a music-lover which brings me to this topic.

My aim: installing a fully-integrated interface between my iPod classic and the C70’s SC-816 Volvo radio that allows me to:

i) fully control my iPod (namely playlists) using the radio equipment;
ii) charge my iPod while connected; and
iii) see the song name on radio display (not sure if whether this a radio-specific feature).

My questions:

Products
1. Are the devices below any good?

2. Do they allow for my aim above?
3. Are there other alternatives?
4. What ports and harnesses do I need to ensure exist? (e.g., can a device that connects to iPod through its 3.5mm port (where one connects headphones) affirm that it allows control and charge the iPod through radio head unit?)

5. Does anybody have experience on whether these solutions work seamlessly?

6. I’m an amateur DIY-challenged. Instructions are quite extensive on what to connect where: guess is a 9-pin DIN cable (8-pin?) to the back of the SC-816 radio, where currently (one assumes) the cd.-changer cable connects. What then? Where do I place the device without have cables hanging around? Alternatively, would I not be able to connect this at the back (trunk)?

Any help most appreciated!!!

Electrical Modification Ideas?

Hey guys!

 

So I can't really decide whether this should go under "Performance Modifications" or "Cosmetic and Detailing." I guess it just kind of depends on which way you all take this.

 

What I am looking to do is add some electric modifications to my car and I want some ideas. I am pretty new to electrical modifications and installs but what I have done so far is install a switch that controls the functionality of the antenna. It drove me nuts how my car would always look like an RC car when I was driving whether I was listening to the radio, a CD, or the AUX cord I have coming out of my cassette player. That was the thing I really hated about my car, so I fixed it, and it turned out pretty good!

 

Now that got me thinking. I have a bunch of extra space to add switches. I have one open spot to the left of the steering wheel, and I have the space for one or two switches up in the dome light panel. Both would be easy for me to install and I think it would look really cool. What I can't decide however is what I should connect them too! That's where you come in. Give me all your ideas for electrical modifications that require a switch. One that would be handy while still sitting in the drivers seat. Something fairly simple please. I have thought lights would be a good one for the two spaces in the dome light panel, and then I was thinking something performance for the one next to the steering wheel. If it requires going into the engine bay, from what I can tell, any firewall pass seems pretty plugged up with wires so if you have any tips or know of a space I can create a new pass, that'd be great!!

Has anyone put an S60 intake manifold on an S70? I found one for $50 and I'm wondering if the straight runners would be an improvement over the stock manifold! It's off of a 2006 S60 T5 btw

Boost Gauge Installation Help!

Hey guys!

 

So I am interested in installing a boost gauge on my car and in the process of planning how to do it, there has been one thing that I want to make extra sure I do right, because I don't want to screw it up! I am pretty new at this sort of thing so I'm sure you can understand... Haha!

 

My question is, where in the engine bay is the vacuum line that I connect the boost gauge piping to? If you can post a picture of the vacuum line that I will snip and connect the fitting? It would be helpful if you could post a picture of the installed fitting. My car is 1998 Volvo S70 GLT SE, if you didn't see that in my signature.
