Standard Recirculating Valve On 850 Limit Will It Survive?
Diy: Removing Salt Stains From Carpet (Video Tutorial)
Video tutorial on how to clean the salt satins from your vehicle's carpet. Salt stains usually occur during the winter months when you have slush on your shoes and drag it into the vehicle. Once the slush melts, it soaks into the carpet, then the moisture evaporates leaving the salt crystals behind. These can be very hard to clean and this from my experience is one of the easiest ways to clean it.
Procedure:
-mix an equal 1:1 mix of warm water and white vinegar in a spray bottle
-you can mix a stronger solution with slightly more vinegar that an equal mix
-shake bottle well to ensure solution is mixed
-vacuum an access debris on the carpet before spray the solution on the carpet
-spray the vinegar/water solution onto the salt satins and let it soak for a few minutes
-using a damp cloth and tooth brush, rub the area genitally
-the salt crystal on the carpet fibers will disappear
-you can spray the area down once again with the vinegar/water solution to ensure all the salt is disolved
-using a wet/dry vacuum, vacuum up all the moisture in the carpet
-leave windows or doors open for a day to allow to area to dry sufficiently
The smell of the vinegar will dissipate over the next couple days and then totally disappear.
Seat Repair
Plan is to steamclean carpets and roofliner, clean and paint all the light grey bits that are getting discolored, and then leathermagic the seats.
Problem is the suede inserts.. first, on the 850r, is it suede, alcantara, or microfiber? The rear seats actually look pretty good. The drivers has some wear but nothing major.. the passenger seat looks bad, really clumpy, and spots missing - like a silver dollar sized spot that there is no suede left.
Are there any DIY solutions for repairing that look decent? I've heard of sanding or trimming for the long clumped fibers, but what about where its missing? Both front seats are peppered with tiny spots missing the suede.
Last question, the strips of leather in between the suede sections are cracked, will leather magic fix those, and will it ruin the suede if it gets on it?
Fmic
ok im gathering parts for my fmic and does anyone know what size hose to get for the iac and where to get it from?
Free Spyder Projectors For One 97-03 S40 In Socal In Exchange For Appearing In How-To Video
I keep trying to reply to the thread on 30 Forty 50 and there's something wrong with the stupid Captcha that keeps you from registering. No matter what I do it says unsuccessful.
ANYWAYS! I am the videographer over at Spyder and I have been looking DESPERATELY for a clean 97-03 Volvo S40 to come by our HQ in City Of Industry so I can shoot a how-to video demoing how to install the headlights, and you get to keep the headlights!
It's just a couple hours of your time during the week during business hours.
If you've got an S40 or know someone who does (like Phixion on 30 Forty 50 who says he drives by every day... who I cannot reply to... )
PLEAAASE refer them to me.

From what I know, it'll be probably the safest way to gain about 50 hp.

2004 S60R Head
I hear that the heads on the R models flow a lot better than T5 models. But my question is will I be able to purchase the head off a S60R and drop it into my 99 T5? Or will there be a problem with the VVTI? What about timing and tune? Would those need to be adjusted or changed as well? Any info helps please let me know!!!
Thank you!

Koni Street Shock/struts Str.t
I have not been able to really find any real world reviews of the Koni Str.t shocks on a volvo. Anyone have these?
The price is definitely looking good, but how good are they? I had Koni FSD and Eibach springs on my old C70 coupe for a couple of months before totaled and liked them, but they are pricey! I plan to pair them with IPD springs or Eibach again. I am leaning towards IPD due to more drop.
All I have really seen a description of them is that they are like Koni yellows on the softest setting. I have never had yellows, so that does not mean much to me.
New Grill, Or Use This One? Suggestions?
I'm just curious about what different options are out there. I kind of like the mesh style, aftermarket grill that's in it now, but I think I'll ditch the R emblem. I would like to put a Volvo badge on the grill, but didn't know if this will work w/ this grill.
Any options anyone can offer? Should I use this grill or does anyone have suggestions for a different grill?
A pic of the grill that's in it now...

Adhesive Removal Help
This isn't for my 2 Volvos, but may apply.
I've got a car where I removed a chrome strip from the hood. There was much adhesive which I managed to get off with plastic scraper and goo gone.
But there is a thin black bead (like rubber) that will not come off, and I cannot dissolve it with goo gone or bug/tar removal, and cannot buff it out. I've read that it may be the same stuff used for windshield adhesive.
Before I go and sand it off and repaint the entire hood, is there some chemical that will break this stuff down?!?!?
Thanks!
Manumatic Transmission
So I was doing some reading on this site: http://ecomodder.com/wiki/index.php/Manumatic and it seems relatively simple to be able to control what gear an auto car is in, so I was wondering if anyone has a wiring diagram for the tranny or for the TCM. I'm thinking of programming a microprocessor to control some transistors to make the change. I could also use the rpm wire under the steering column as an input, and set the rpm to shift at for each gear! I'm thinking of doing this on my 98 S70 N/A and working out the kinks so if I screw anything up, it won't be on my T5 any input/help would be awesome!
i don't know why it's posting that all as a hyperlink so if someone could please fix that it would be awesome!
Glt Cam Timing
there are a lot of threads on this but everyone seems to have there own answer. I seen a thread where somebody suggested +2exh. and -2int. obviously there isn't a right setting but what would be the best for a stock motor(850R), straight pipe, and m56? I will be using both cams. this is with both cams lined up with the marks on the top timing cover(with glt cam gears). Ive also heard +4 on exh. and 0 for int. for a stock setting, because the notch stamped on the cam gears are diff. between turbo and n/a. any advice on what will work good will be great, thanks.
