I titled this "Rebuild for dummies" cause I'm not here to pretend I know it all. Specially about volvos.
I am getting ready to rebuild my t5 out of my 99 V70 R, it's been setting way to long. Blew the motor a couple years ago after letting a shabby mechanic rebuild the head. The guy didn't even set the cams right. Well it's water under the bridge now and I guess if I want to have something done right I do it my self.
I'm a gear head but am use to working on Gms or nissans so I'm kinda new to Volvo but I'm learning fast since I've drove the car for a few years. And love it.
Well my first question is what's the best way to pull the head cam cover? Does it take a special pulling tool and where do I find it.?
I'm kinda anxious to see what kinda damage I did.
I also would be interested in what Manuel to use for the best information.
I'd be happy to share picturse as I go along and learn for my self it can be kinda the Volvo rebuild for dummies" paperback, lol.
So what I have is a Stock t5 R turbo with some mild upgrades like better exhaust and intake a better controller from IPD
What I want is mild racing pistons, down pipe, stage 2-3 chipping and a bullet proof motor to pull 325-350 hp without ripping out the automatic tranny. Kinda the get to work fast fun work rig.
I'd love a little help here in my rebuild so if y'all have any constructive advise on to where to by parts, and what not to dos I'd seriously appreciate it.
I did find these guys for rebuild kits. Has any one used them before? What do you thinks?

Also if their are other posts out there that you think would be a good read for me I'd love to read em.
Thanks in advance,
