Hi Guys,
I am replacing my radiator on the weekend and will also replace the coolant. I was thinking that now is my opportunity to change coolant type if I ever was going to.
In the past, I was using 50/50 glycol based coolant and water. However, I live where it has never ever been below freezing point – in the contrary, we have hot summers. With my old radiator, the temp went over 100C when giving it some.
I have looked into:
- waterless coolant (e.g. evans);
- glycol free coolant (e.g. just water wetter and distilled water); and
- glycol based coolant.
I have read mixed reviews on waterless coolant (and it is expensive), so I am not too keen. I am basically down to water wetter and distilled water, but am not sure that this will provide sufficient lubrication to the water pump, or just another glycol based mix (although probably at a higher water concentration).
Thoughts? Comments?
