Hi Guys,
I have finally pulled my old engine apart for a rebuild, and wasnt really sure how to interpret the visual wear on the bearings/bore. The haynes black and white line drawings dont help me much.
Here is a picture of the worst rod bearing
They are all pale/white one the sides and 'shiny' in the middle. This one also has a stripe on the left side (the others dont)
And here is a picture of one of the cylinder walls
The hatching is clearly visible, but there is a dark spot in the middle of each of the cylinders vertically, on both the front and rear of the engine.
Any advice on how I can/should interpret this wear is greatly appreciated! Thanks.
On another topic, I was expecting my rod(s) to be very bent based on the ticking. Only 1 rod was quite subtly bent, I actually didnt notice it as I pulled it out!
