So, my 13g was on its way out, spewing oil into intake, so I swapped it for a 15g and put in a t5 ecu as well.
However, I have since then been getting misfire codes. Usually it goes cyl2, cyl5, random multiple.
I have never felt the engine misfire, or noticed any lack of power, it's currently pulling 0-60 in just under 6.6 seconds.
I figured it was just a result of increased charge temperatures heating up the cylinder too much, and maybe causing pre-ignition randomly. the engine has almost 170k on it, so there is definitely some carbon buildup in the cylinder. So, I cleaned out the intercooler with kerosene and then very thoroughly with alchohol until most all of the oil was gone, and did the same for all the intake plumbing after the turbo.
with no luck, i moved on to delete the a/c condenser to get better airflow onto the intercooler. still threw the light.
has anyone else run into this issue when upgrading their LPT?
spark plugs, cap, rotor, and wires are all new as of less than a year ago.
freeze frame data reveals that the codes are thrown at low engine load (anywhere from 5% to 25%), usually right around 40 mph, and rpms anywhere from 1700 to 2500, most often right around 2400
only other mod on vehicle is a 3" obx turbo back exhaust.
my next idea would be a fuel delivery problem, maybe white injectors would help cool the cylinder with more fuel?
