Hey everyone, been lurking here the past couple of months and finally have a question for you experts. I have a 98 V70GLT, stock for now with 150k, and have a pretty solid stage 0 up to the point (PCV, timing belt, cap/rotors, etc). I just recently installed a boost gauge to get a better understanding of my vacuum/boost situation, in preparation for some upcoming mods (obx downpipe, tune, possibly turbo), and noticed that I have -20 inhg of vacuum (good), but seem to be struggling to overcome vacuum and build boost. I don't start building positive boost until close to 3000 rpm (1-2psi) but do seem to get to 5-6psi at >4000rpm and high load. I understand this is a lpt, but I'm wondering if I can either tighten my wastegate or install a mbc to build boost a little sooner (safely?), and possibly up the boost by a couple of pounds without getting a tune? This is my DD and I rarely beat on it, most of my driving/shifting is below 4k, so Im just hoping to build boost quicker (2500rpm?) for around town driving. Recommendations? are there issues building 5-10 psi below 4k?
Thanks in advance!
