My old subframe is bent, so I have a new one all cleaned and ready. I'm installing the delrin subframe bushings from kaplhenke and have two questions/things I need confirmed.
These bushings differ from the more popular ones from CJ in that they are a single piece, with a large lip on one end. The large lip needs to be facing down when installed, correct? Similar to the larger lip of the rubber OEM bushings. I'm 99% sure but just want to confirm before I press them in.
My second question is: what is the best way to press them in? I've managed to get each about half way (using a clamp and a mallot), but can't get much farther than that. Would it be ok to use the bolts in the car with the washer to press them in entirely? I question it because the bolts are torque to yield, and also because if that doesn't work I'm screwed without a subframe until I can press them in (I have to drive the car to work tomorrow, I haven't dropped the old subframe just yet).
Thanks for any input.
Edit: Bushing placement confirmed with kaplhenke. I'm just going to make a press out of some stuff from the hardware store.
