Hello guys,
I'm from Portugal and I have (among a S60 D5, V70 2.0T II and V40 1.6) a manual 1997 S70R for more than 2 years.
About one year ago, after some maintenance and repairs (pretty much a stage 0), I started with the mods.
My current engine/performance related mod list is:
- Kinugawa WG actuator
- Forge CBV
- Silicone vaccum hoses
- Blue injectors
- IPD shortram intake
- Snabb turbo intake pipe
- IPD/MSD coil
- IPD spark plug wires
- Cat deleted
- TME cat-back
- do88 intercooler + reverse piping
- cam adjustment
- ECU remap (boost target arround 1.2bar)
(I hope I'm not forgetting anything)
Well, the problem is that even though the remap was done considering boost levels arround 1.2bar I never (almost never) can reach the boost target, even using 1bar spring on the WGA and the yellow spring on the forge CBV.
To be more specific, if I start pulling in 3rd or 4th from 3.000rpm or so I will never have steady boost above 0,9/1bar max (far from 1.2bar). Sometimes the boost spikes between 18-20psi and goes back to those levels.
This problem has continued after I put the silicone vaccum hoses, the forge CBV, the intercooler and reverse piping, the snabb intake pipe. So, it really doesn't seem to be any leak problem.
However, if I start pulling in 1st or 2nd and then take those gears to the limit and shift to 3rd, 4th, 5th, I can get many times more than 1bar steady boost. Sometimes in 5th I really can get like 20psi (1.35bar).
And if I start pulling 5th gear from 3.000rpm the boost until 5.000/5.500 doesn't go above 0,9/1bar but then suddenly arround 5.500 it start climbing really well up to 20psi (1,35bar).
The tuner (Rui Reis - I think some of you may know him) says this is not a ECU maps related problem.
If I disconnect the WGA vac line I easily can get boost levels higher than 1bar.
I've done a lot to solve this problem (new TCV, silicone vac lines, new WGA, new CBV, new intercooler and intercooler piping). It doesn't seem to be any leak really.
Does anyone have any clue about what can be the problem? MAF, MAP, somehow the turbo itself, what else?
Thank you guys.
I've dyoned 305bhp and 406Nm with 0,95bar steady boost. I can imagine what i would get with 1.2bar or so.
