So I'm just curious, what's involved w/ being able to do this? Before anyone answers, let me explain more...
Back when I started this 99 V70R project, I had just finished putting an LS3 in a 69 Cutlass. While I know cars fairly well, I don't know the first thing about tuning. When I did the Cutlass, we got the connect n cruise crate package which included the engine w/ exhaust manifolds and cats, trans, ECU, and wiring harness. After it was all said and done we ended up going w/ headers and no cats so we needed a tune (and this was my first go round w/ tuning).
I found a guy that tunes cars for Berger Chevrolet (Berger Camaro), and while he wasn't cheap, he is very good at what he does. I asked him if he ever did anything w/ Volvos and he said no, he doesn't have the software. So I then asked if he would be interested and he told me he would if I could get the software. At that point I didn't really move forward w/ anything because, why reinvent the wheel when there are so many tuners out there for Volvo already, and this sounds pretty expensive.
Fast forward to now... What would it take to get the software needed for tuning ME7 (or what does he even mean by 'software')? Am I delusional for even thinking about this? Right now, the guy only tunes Chrysler and GM, but he still says he'd be interested if I could find the software (this is my wording when I say 'software' btw). He has a wheel dyno and obviously understands the how's and why's behind tuning.
Is this something I should pursue? Or am I chasing wild geese??
