I added heated seats to my 850. The burl wood cover on the center console appears to be just glued over the basic black piece used on other models. The black piece has plugs that just pop out for adding the switches, but they won't pop out because they are covered by the burl. I was thinking of doing something like this:
1. heating up the glue to remove the burl piece
2. pop out the plugs from the black piece (they pop upwards, so the burl has to be removed to get them out)
3. Mark the bottom of the burl to show where it needs to be cut.
4. Dremel out the openings for the seat heater switches.
Has anyone ever successfully done this, or will I just end up ruining the burl piece? I've seen so many cracked burl shift knobs that I'm thinking the center console piece might do the same thing, even though it looks solid right now.
