There is a black strip of plastic that hold the VIN plate, and fits between the windshield and the dash pad. Mine has several cracks/missing pieces, and looks terrible because the insulation from under the dash pad is sticking out.
Is there a better name for this piece? This might be helpful in sourcing a new one.
How hard is it to replace, is it replaceable if the upper dash pad is removed, or does the windshield need to be out to get at it? The reason I ask, is mine is full of cracks, and my windshield will need to be replaced soon. Just want to make sure I can find one of these pieces before doing the windshield if that's the only time it can be done.
