I have an older Terratrip 404+ that I want to install in to my 97 850 T-5 for a navigational rally this weekend. The previous owner of the computer built a harness so that it can be removed easily and just plugs in to the lighter socket and just needs a lead attached to the VSS or ABS signal with a female spade connector.
My question is this:
What is the best way to wire this in to an 850? If it was a 740 or 240 with an electronic speedo, I would just tap in to the vss line behind the cluster. On an 850 though, I have to pull the dash pad up in order to get the cluster out of there. Is there a better spot to intercept the wire? Or perhaps another option? I was thinking maybe something related to the OBD-2 port. Brantz sells something similar for their systems, but who knows if it is compatible. http://www.brantz.co.uk/sensors.htm
I'm checking with Brantz and Terratrip in the meantime, but figured I'd see if anyone here might have some vehicle specific information I could use. Has anyone here done something similar in their P80?
Worst case scenario, I'll be using an ODB-2 BT adapter and using Torque or something similar on a tablet if I can't get this working in time.
