So, I've been toying with the idea of a manual trans swap and that got me thinking(dreaming?) about LSD options.
Quaife and Gripper are the two options afaik, and it seems like there is a bias here towards Gripper.
I don't fully understand this, as I have driven a relatively light weight FWD car (completely aftermarket turbocharged, a VW Cabriolet) with a Quaife ATB and I was quite impressed with the results before and after.
Perhaps the Gripper is best for all out racing, but the ATB is great for daily driving in my experience.
I also read reports of the Quaife units breaking on these cars, which is quite surprising to me... but admittedly, I have no experience here.
So, all of that being said, I have been talking with Gary Peloquin about developing a unit as an alternative to the Quaife.. nothing real serious, but just some general back and forth.
re: Peloquin --- if you are unfamiliar with the man/brand, this is decent reading IMO: http://www.houseofthud.com/cartech/EC-PeloquinArticle.html
EDIT: Oops. No, that's not the right article, sorry. I'm trying to find the right one. The article I meant to post delves more in to the manufacturing / QC demands of Peloquin, which are quite high.
Anyways, regarding the Quaife offering, he said:
