I just got a set of IPD silicone turbo coolant return hoses and can't seem to fit the lower J hose on, the one that has a small diameter on one side and large diameter on the other. I spent hours trying to get it on. I tried heating it and using Vaseline but it just wont fit on all the way. I compared the hose to the stock rubber one and it looks to me like the enlarged diameter part on the silicone hose is not as long as the same portion on the rubber hose.
I can get the hose over the pipe, but because it seems to transition to smaller diameter too soon, it will not go onto the heater pipe far enough. I took some pictures comparing it to the rubber hose and showed them to IPD. They say it looks normal and they've never had a report of this being an issue. What do you guys think? In one picture that shows the hose in place on the water pipe, that is as far as I can push it on, it will go no further. There's no way it can be safe to clamp it there.
In another picture I show the water pipe in question next to the hose. It looks to me like there is no way that the IPD silicone hose can accommodate the pipe.
If you've replaced this hose on the car, you know it's a tight area to be working in. Maybe that's part of my problem, but really it's just a hose. I've done hoses before. It shouldn't be this difficult especially since I have tried heating it, etc. Does anyone who has installed this hose before have any tricks for me to try? Or does the hose look wrong to you?
