Since I've owned my car it has had a custom 3" turbo back exhaust with a very free flowing muffler. It's loud. I love the way it sounds tooling around town and have been able to tolerate the drone on long trips so far. Well, my tolerance is decreasing. I still want the growl of an open exhaust sometimes but would like to have the car generally quieter for other times especially long highway trips.
After much deliberation I have decided I would like to go to a dual exhaust with quieter mufflers, and then an electric cut out to dump the exhaust near the rear wheel somewhere when I'm feeling frisky. I want the mufflers to be pretty darn quiet but I wouldn't mind a little growl. Does anyone know of or have installed any mufflers that are fairly quiet?
Does anyone have experience with exhaust cutouts? Anything I should know? I really do plan on running the cut out open most of the time. Should I be concerned with exhaust just dumping underneath the car that frequently?
